Triguboff was born in China of Russian parents who fled the country during the Bolshevik revolution. He learned about real estate when he visited his father in the works in China. He emigrated to Australia at age 28. He drove a taxi before being the first to warn the increased demand for apartments in Sydney. He spent his early childhood in the white Russian Jewish community in Tianjin (Tientsin then spelled) in the south of Beijing before coming to Australia in 1947 to be educated at the University of Scots in Sydney. He drove a taxi and owned a milk operation before establishing Meriton apartments and build the first block of units in 1963. This time he has since developed into one of the most successful property developers in Australia. In 2006 Triguboff was ranked the 606th richest man in the world with a fortune of about $ 1.3 billion. He is married and has two daughters, Rhonda, Orna and Sharon.
